Will contest LS poll, if party wants: Poojary

Former Union minister and veteran Congress leader B Janardhan Poojary said that he would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections if the party high-command issues a ticket.

Addressing reporters at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple on Sunday, Poojary said that the decision on his candidature is entirely left to Kudroli Gokarnanatha, the presiding deity of the temple. “If the high-command issues ticket, I will surely contest the Parliamentary elections,” Poojary said.

Mysuru Dasara

Janardana Poojary said that Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara will inaugurate Mangaluru Dasara - 2018 at Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple. He, meanwhile, added that Kudroli Temple is not confined to a particular caste.

Kudroli Temple Development committee treasurer Padmaraj said Dasara celebrations will be held at the temple from October 10. A grand procession will be taken out on October 19.

Kudroli temple committee member Harikrishna Bantwal said the preparations for Dasara at Kudroli is on in full swing. Artisans from Bengal are already working on idols, under the guidance of Kubera, a sculptor from Shivamogga. Idols of Ganesha, ‘Navadurga’, the idols of nine forms of Goddess Durga, and also Sharada, are being made at the temple.

Temple committee president H S Sairam and vice president Urmila Ramesh Kumar were present.
