Carney announced the cabinet reshuffle almost two weeks after his Liberal Party won the federal elections in Canada. She replaced Melanie Joly, who is now the Minister of Industry.</p><p>Born and raised in rural Nova Scotia, Anand moved to Ontario in 1985.</p><p>The Prime Minister of Canada's website mentions that Anand was first elected as a Member of Parliament for Oakville in 2019 and previously served as President of the Treasury Board, as Minister of National Defence, and as Minister of Public Services and Procurement.</p><p>“Anand has worked as a scholar, lawyer, and researcher. She has been a legal academic, including as a Professor of Law at the University of Toronto, where she held the J R Kimber Chair in Investor Protection and Corporate Governance,” it said and listed her other academic achievements too.</p>.<p><a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/world/indian-heritage-anita-anand-is-canadas-new-foreign-minister-maninder-sidhu-given-international-trade-3539855">Maninder Sidhu</a>, 41, is the new Minister for International Trade in the new cabinet announced on Tuesday.</p><p>Sidhu, 41, also took to X after swearing-in and said, it is an “honour of a lifetime” to be appointed as Canada’s International Trade Minister.</p><p>“I’m grateful to Prime Minister @MarkJCarney for the confidence he’s placed in me to diversify trade, support Canadian businesses in reaching new global markets, and help create good-paying jobs across Canada,” he said.</p><p>“I’m proud to stand alongside my colleagues as we work together to build the fastest-growing economy in the G7,” he added in the post on X.</p><p>Sidhu's appointment as the Minister for International Trade comes at a time when Canada is battling the Trump administration's aggression towards Canada on tariffs.</p><p>According to Sidhu's website, the entrepreneur has been an MP from Brampton East since 2019 and for over four years, he has also been a Parliamentary Secretary at Global Affairs Canada “helping to strengthen diplomatic relations, promoting international trade, and supporting international development.”</p>.<p><a href="https://indiaspora.org/government-leaders/ruby-sahota-2/" rel="nofollow">Ruby Sahota</a>, an MP from Brampton North House of Commons since 2015, has been appointed Secretary of State for Combatting Crime.</p><p>An effective voice for Brampton, Sahota worked as a lawyer before beginning her career in politics.</p><p>She was been involved in various committees, including the Standing Committee on the Status of Women and the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs, actively. Sahota was appointed as the Deputy Government Whip in 2021, and was promoted to Chief Government Whip in 2014, wherein she was responsible for maintaining discipline within the Liberal caucus.</p><p>The key focus of her work has been public transit, post-secondary education, affordable childcare, and human rights.</p><p>Talking about her previous leadership roles, Sahota has chaired the Federal Liberal Ontario Caucus and also participated in the Special Committee on Electoral Reform. </p>.<p><a href="https://randeepsarai.libparl.ca/about/" rel="nofollow">Randeep Sarai</a>, 50, is a community leader, lawyer, and entrepreneur who was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Surrey-Centre in 2015.</p><p>He was re-elected for the second time in 2019 to represent Surrey Centre, and in 2021 for the third term.</p><p>He has now been elected as the Secretary of State for International Development in the new cabinet.</p><p>Randeep on X <a href="https://x.com/randeepssarai/status/1922407484951589373">said</a>, " Our government is committed to global peace, supporting the most vulnerable, advancing sustainability, & investing in a world where local communities and economies can thrive, so that we all benefit."</p><p>"I’m deeply grateful to the people of Surrey Centre for their trust.
