The targeted 62 websites were registered in 15 provinces and municipalities, the information office of the State Council said in a statement Thursday. The crackdown was carried out as part of a special campaign launched in December 2009 to remove pornographic content from the internet, Xinhua reported.
"Government agencies will make concerted efforts to attain a clean internet environment to facilitate healthy development of adolescents," the statement added.
