Supreme Court pauses judge's order on US government foreign aid funding in relief to Trump

President Donald Trump's administration asked the US Supreme Court on Wednesday to put on hold a federal judge's order requiring the government to pay foreign aid funds to contractors and grant recipients for past work.

The administration filed a request urging the justices to halt Washington-based US District Judge Amir Ali's order, arguing that it amounted to judicial overreach. Ali's order gave the administration a deadline of 11:59 pm Wednesday night.

Following this, the US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts paused the federal judge's order and issued an interim order placing on hold Washington-based US District Judge Amir Ali's action that had imposed a deadline for Wednesday night.
