JOIN USProf Karunakara N of Mangalore University has been chosen by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology for Sir C V Raman Young Scientist State Award for the year 2017.
According to a press release, the award will be conferred on August 6, at IISc, Bengaluru by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. The award is in recognition for his outstanding contribution in the field of physical sciences and mathematics.
Prof Karunakara has developed a technology for the mitigation of Radon and Thoron for Thorium processing facilities in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and this technology has been integrated at their processing facilities.
He has published 70 research papers in journals and presented 138 research papers in conferences of national and international repute.
