Debt-ridden farmer commits suicide in Ramanagar dist

A farmer consumed pesticide and committed suicide at Arekattedoddi village in Kanakapur taluk of Ramanagar district on Monday night.

The deceased is Madegowda (40).

He had borrowed Rs 5 lakh farm loan from various banks. He had pledged ornaments and had borrowed Rs one lakh. He found it difficult to repay the loans and took the extreme step, said the police.

According to Madegowda's family members, he went to the field late on Monday night and consumed the pesticide.

The Sathanur police have registered a case.
