KaRaVe books 235 tickets for Sunny's Nov 3 show

Last Updated 18 July 2019, 08:28 IST

Planning to protest against Bollywood actress Sunny Leone during her first ever live performance in Karnataka on November 3, activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene (KRVYS) have purchased as many as 235 tickets for the show to be held at a private hotel in Manyata Tech Park near Nagawara. Chaos and intense protests against Sunny Leone are expected during the show.

Confirming the move, Harish, State President of KRVYS, told DH that as long as Leone is part of the movie Veeramahadevi, we will protest against her wherever she goes. “We love to see her singing Kannada songs and dancing to the tunes of Kannada songs. That is why we have booked 235 tickets.

“But we just can not accept her donning the role of the greatest Kannada queen owing to her past experience of starring in blue films. As long as she continues in the movie we will protest against her. The protests will not be confined to Bengaluru alone but to other parts of Karnataka and neighbouring Tamil Nadu as well,” Harish said.

Holding a protest on Monday in front of Town Hall against the actress, Yuva Sene activists slit their wrists in a symbolic way to convey that “We will give our blood, but will not allow Sunny to enact the role in the film.” The activists have also sought the Karnataka government to ban the movie’s release across Karnataka as it has depicted some of the greatest kings of Southern India, like Rashtrakuta and Cholas, as slaves.

KRV distances itself

Meanwhile, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (the parent body) distanced itself from the controversy. Speaking to DH, KRV President Narayana Gowda said, “We are not a party to the protest or controversy pertaining to Sunny Leone. They have been using our name and staging protests.”

Clarifying their stand Harish said, “We are part of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene and are legally registered. We are not part of any other organisation. We have been fighting independently since the beginning.”
