Waste of time to comment on Rahul Gandhi: DVS

Last Updated 30 October 2018, 20:19 IST

Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday took a jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi, saying “it was a waste of time” to comment on him.

Gowda was responding to a question on Gandhi’s going back on some of his allegations against Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, following which he threatened to file a criminal defamation suit.

“It’s not fair comment about Rahul Gandhi. It’s a waste of time, because time and again, he does the same thing. Neither does he do his homework nor does he go in depth into any issue. He speaks whatever comes to his mind and then backtracks,” Gowda told reporters.

On BJP leaders’ claim that Karnataka’s political scenario would change after the bypoll results are out on November 6, Gowda cryptically said: “You wait till November 6...”

The BJP is up against the Congress-JD(S) combine in the November 3 bypoll to five seats - Bellary, Shimoga and Mandya (Lok Sabha), Ramanagara and Jamkhandi (Assembly).

Gowda said BJP was headed to a clear victory in three constituencies. He did not say which ones. “In the other two constituencies, there’s a tough fight that can go either ways,” he said. It won’t be a surprise if we win all the five constituencies.”

As many as 3,000 software professionals are expected to take part in a ‘Run for Unity’ the BJP will organise on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary on Wednesday, Gowda said.

The run will be held in the Lok Sabha constituencies of Bangalore North (8 am, Manyata Tech Park to Outer Ring Road), Bangalore Central (8 am Cubbon Park Metro station to Vasanthnagar) and Bangalore South (9 am, Shalini Ground).
