4 held for series of theft cases

The Mulki police have arrested four persons, including two children in conflict with the law, in connection with a series of theft cases reported in Mulki from 2016 to 2018.

The arrested are Savad (24), Jaithin (21) and two children.

The arrested had confessed that they had stolen gold jewels and other valuables from a jewellery shop in Mulki. The police had already arrested two more children in conflict with the law who were also part of this gang recently.

The police have seized valuables, including gold and silver worth Rs 8 lakh, from the arrested.

A gas cutter, a gas cutting machine, a rod, a cutting machine, a gas cylinder and other materials used for the theft have also been seized by the police.

Cattle rescued: 4 held

The Kavoor police have arrested four persons in connection with the illegal transportation of cattle at a check post on Thursday.

According to the police, the arrested are lorry driver Nayimuddin, Radhakrishna, car driver Subhash Shetty and Sathish Kumar.

The police rescued seven cows and six calves that were being transported from Udupi to Mangaluru.
