6 workers killed after crane crashes in Sedam

Six workers were killed after a crane collapsed due to heavy winds at Sri Cement Factory near Kodla in Sedam taluk on Thursday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Tabarak Ali, P T Kanchan, Sudhakar, Zubair, Nithin and Ajay.

The exact number of people injured is yet to ascertained.

However, the condition of one Shahazad, admitted to United Hospital is said to be critical.

Eyewitnesses said, the workers were involved in welding work of a scaffolding on the premises of the factory when the crane collapsed due to gusty winds accompanied by light shower.

The Sedam police visited the spot.
