<p>The final rites of Veerabhadraswamy (59), Additional Inspector General of Prisons, who died of cardiac arrest while attending a seminar on Friday, was performed at his native village in Sira on Sunday.</p>.<p>Veerabhadraswamy, who was due to retire on June 30 next year, was attending the seminar, at the prison headquarters, to train prison staff on e-prison software. It was around 4.30 pm when the AIG, seated on the dais while his colleague HS Revanna was briefing the participants, started gasping for breath and collapsed.</p>.<p>The staff members rushed to his help and gave him CPR before he was rushed to the Mallya Hospital, where he breathed his last. Veerabhadraswamy is survived by a wife and four children.</p>.<p>“He was punctual, hardworking and very helpful and popular in the department, a senior official said.</p>.<p>Home Minister G Parameshwara said: “The demise of Veerabhadraswamy has left a huge void in the department. Till his end, he always remained true to his belief and principles.”</p>
