Upbeat mood at Congress party office; BJP activists sombre

The mood was upbeat in Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office at Queens Road, with party activists waving the Congress party flag and raising slogans, putting up a show of victory in Karnataka Assembly election.

At 10:10 am, a moderate crowd of BJP supporters and party workers were busy watching the live coverage of the results in front of Jagannatha Bhavan in Malleshwaram. People were keenly watchingthe numbers displaying on a big TV screen attached to a mobile van, sitting on the footpath.

G V Subrahmanyam, a party supporter who came to Malleshwaram from Basavanagudi, hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he was confident of BJP winning. A party worker waved a huge party flag. By 10:50 am, it became clear that the party wasn't going to get a majority, and the flagbearer man relegated to the background.
