A new virtual reality walk-in dome will allow contractors, designers and developers the chance to experience projects before they start on site.

The Immersive Dome from Soluis Interact, the Glasgow-based digital creativity leaders, created a fully immersive experience which allows users to engage with 3D environments. The latest version of the dome was on display in London recently. Chris Miborrow of Soluis Interact said the dome has a broad range of applications for the construction sector.

It includes acting as a training aid, which will allow companies to train people in a realistic off-site environment and doing so has many benefits such as cost and risk reduction. Further this allows companies to place stakeholders inside a virtual representation of a project to give them an accurate depiction of how it will look when it has been completed. This increases their levels of engagement, involvement and understanding.

The walk-in dome can be a powerful tool that can engage public outreach in many elevating levels. As a result, this makes the whole planning and design process more collaborative as teams can meet inside the dome to discuss and debate how key pars of projects are developing.

The dome can be rented by companies or bought outright. The Soluis walk-in dome utilises projection mapping to create an experience that envelops an individual’s whole field of vision and supports shared immersion in a virtual reality.
