Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party chief Vijay Goel on Friday slammed the “Congress-AAP alliance” for fuelling inflation with a triple blow of hike in price of cooking gas, CNG and a 10 per cent increase in water tariff.

.
“The price hikes approved by the AAP in Delhi and its alliance partner Congress at the level of Central government will affect every household,” said Goel.

“The BJP wants immediate rollback of the increase in prices of water, cooking gas and CNG,” he said.

The hike of Rs 220 in non-subsidised LPG cylinder will further burden the middle class and lower income groups who are grappling with skyrocketing prices of food grains and other essential commodities.

“The prime minister has himself accepted that there are no jobs. In such a situation, it is not possible to make both ends meet,” he said.

The hike in CNG will raise cost of transport and have a cascading effect on prices, said the BJP chief.

Similarly, the hike in water tariff by 10 per cent ordered by the Kejriwal government for consumers who use more than 20 kilolitre water a month will affect the middle class.

“Both the Congress and the AAP are raising prices and seem to be supporting each other on this,” said Goel.

“This is a betrayal of the trust of people. Both of them stand exposed today as none of them have even tried to roll back these hikes,” he added.

Price rise was one of the major poll planks of the BJP in the just concluded Assembly elections. The party had highlighted the issue of costly onions, which touched a high of Rs 100 a kg in some pockets in the city, to attack the then Congress government led by Sheila Dikshit.

The Congress got a drubbing in the election and the party managed to get only eight seats. The BJP got 31 seats and the Aam Aadmi Party which got 28 seats formed a minority government.
