<p>Two men have been arrested in west Delhi for allegedly making extortion calls for Rs 20 lakh to a businessman in Vikaspuri. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The two young men had threatened to kidnap and kill the businessman’s children if he failed to pay the money.<br /><br />Police said the two were so desperate to make quick money that they brought down the extortion demand from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 1 lakh. <br /><br />Also, they themselves turned up at a pre-designated spot to collect money without realising that they could possibly be walking into a trap laid by police. <br /><br />That is what exactly happened as they were nabbed while collecting the cash.<br />The two accused have been identified as Bilal Khan and Barqat Saifi, both 23-years-old and residents of west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar. <br /><br />The complainant Deepak, 35, lives in the same area. Khan and Saifi were unemployed for the past few months after which they decided to indulge in an extortion racket.<br /><br />“We have recovered Rs 1 lakh that was paid to them by the complainant as per our plan to nab the extortionists. A mobile phone and two SIM cards, procured on fake identities and used for making the extortion calls, and a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle were also recovered from them,” said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), in a release on Sunday.<br /><br />The victim had approached Vikaspuri police station on January 1 to lodge a complaint that he had received three ransom calls from unknown persons. <br /><br />“The unknown callers asked Deepak to pay Rs 20 lakh, otherwise they would kidnap and kill his children. Accordingly, a case was registered and four separate teams were formed to nab the extortionists,” said Kumar.<br /><br />Daring criminals<br />One of the extortionists dared to even visit Deepak’s shop on Saturday and directed him to come to Chhath Pooja Park near Najafgarh drain with Rs 1 lakh.<br /> <br />Deepak has an aquarium business and also deals in property. Deepak immediately informed police who directed him to reach the spot with the cash. <br /><br />“The bag containing the cash was left on a motorcycle as directed by the extortionists. The two men arrived there to collect the cash after Deepak left, but a police team waiting nearby overpowered them,” said Kumar.</p>
