A 35-year-old man killed his wife because she snubbed him for forcing her to have sex with him.
According to the police, Suman (30) had refused his attempts to have sex with her a couple of days ago. This apparently angered her husband Sanjeev Kumar and he strangled her to death.
The incident took place in the village of Jogna in Haryana's Kurukshetra district, about 100 km from the Chandigarh.
Sanjeev earns his living as a painter. According to the police, Suman had been avoiding sex with him because he was running a fever, and he was suspected of having contracting Dengue.
After his attack, Sanjeev had assumed that Suman had just fainted. It was in the morning that the accused and other family members realised that she had died. She was cremated on Wednesday.
The couple have been married for over 10 years and have two kids. The police have also booked the family of the accused. However, no one other than Kumar has been arrested. The police said the role of other family members is under investigation. Kumar was arrested on the basis of a complaint by the brother of the deceased.
Suman's brother Ravi Kumar has, however, offered a twist to the episode.
He said Sanjeev was having an extra-marital relationship, which led to frequent altercations between husband and wife. Sources said a village panchayat was held some time ago, where Sanjeev had given an undertaking that he will not indulge in infidelity anymore.
