Even as the indefinite fast of Arvind Kejriwal entered fourth day, Aam Aadmi party claimed on Tuesday that around 1.86 lakh people pledged support to the party’s movement by vowing to not pay electricity bills in defiance of inflated bills.

The activists of AAP also burnt electricity bills at different locations in the city as a mark of protest on the occassion of Holika Dahan on Tuesday.

“By the end of day three, 1,86,697 satyagrahis had signed protest letters to Sheila Dikshit pledging that they would not pay the inflated bijli-pani bills,” said AAP in a statement.

The party officials said Delhi Residents’ Welfare Association Federation — an association of 51 RWAs under its fold — also pledged the support to the party. The spokespersons of federation said they would further send protest letters to Shiela Dikshit signed by people.

The party officials also claimed that the city government, which has started feeling the heat of the movement, is misusing the police to scare party activists away.

“Posters, hoardings, banners and other publicity material of the party are being pulled down across the city, and volunteers are also being manhandled by the police,” AAP leader Manish Sisodia said.

Meanwhile, the party leaders said that Arvind Kejriwal’s health has deteriorated slightly on Tuesday and has lost around 5 kgs of weight. Addressing the people on the fourth day of satyagraha against unfair tariffs of water and electricity, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Sharir kamzor zaroor hai, magar hausle buland hain (I am only physically weak; my spirit has not dampened).”
