The Delhi University on Friday said it will put in place a joint control room manned by Delhi Police, DTC authorities and varsity officials to deal with Holi hooliganism.

Helplines have been set up for the North and South Campuses, call of which will be received by the control room.

Issuing its annual guidelines detailing the security arrangements ahead of the festive week, the university said Delhi Police will maintain a vigil at sensitive areas around the campus.

In addition, patrol squads will leave no area unchecked.
The university said it has also asked police to deploy force in uniform and in plainclothes in the buses going to various colleges.

The DU has warned of strict punishment for any act of gross indiscipline and harassment.

“Playing of Holi will not be permitted in any educational institution and the entry would be regulated through identity cards. All anti-ragging and anti-eve-teasing provisions would be made applicable in case of harassment caused to any student during the period,” registrar Tarun Kumar Das said in a press statement on Friday.

“Law enforcing agencies have been asked to maintain constant vigil and to prevent any act of rowdyism and hooliganism in the name of Holi,” Das said.

“The DTC crews have been requested to take the buses to the nearest police station in the event of any hooliganism taking place in a bus or drive the buses with lights switched on so that the nearest PCR van can intercept such a bus and take necessary action,” Das added.
