<p>Ahead of the MCD polls, a Shiv Sena candidate was stabbed by four persons in outer Delhi’s Rohini on Thursday, police said. The incident took place a day after a BJP worker was killed by his party men on Tuesday night.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Sunil Kumar Chinkara, 25, who is contesting municipal polls from ward number 21 of Rohini for the first time, was on his way to a barber shop near his home at NDMC society in sector 11 of Rohini when four persons first thrashed him and then stabbed him at around 10:30 am. <br /><br />Sunil’s brother, Anil, said, “Sunil and I came out together from our house. After dropping him at a crossing at sector-11, I left on my bike. Sunil told us that as he was walking towards a barber shop when somebody placed his hand on his arm from behind.”<br /><br />Before he turned to see, they started beating him mercilessly. “Three of them held him while the fourth man stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon on his back and feld from the spot leaving him in pool of blood,” said a senior police officer.<br /><br />Locals rushed Sunil to Ambedkar Hospital where after treatment he was discharged in the evening. <br /><br />“It appears to be a case of personal rivalry. We have registered a case under appropriate sections against unknown persons in this regard. A manhunt has been initiated to nab the assailants,” said the officer.<br /><br />Political enmity<br /><br />Mahavir Singh, the victim’s father said, “Sunil had no personal or political enmity with anyone. We have no idea about who was behind the attack.”<br /><br />Master Ajit, a senior member of Delhi Shiv Sena, said, “The attack on Sunil Kumar was certainly done with malicious political motives. Involvement of rival parties behind the attack cannot be ruled out.”<br /><br />Sunil Kumar has a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder registered against him in 2007 in Sultanpuri police station. <br /><br />The case is pending before additional session judge’s court in Rohini, according to the affidavit submitted by him while filing nominations for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls. <br /><br /> </p>
