Karkala police have nabbed two accused, who were involved in illegal cattle trafficking here at Kucchuru village, in Hebri, during the wee hours on Friday.

Karkala ASP Rishikesh Sonavane told DH that the police nabbed the culprits when they were transporting the cattle illegally at Hebri. There were five accused, of whom three are absconding. Of the three, two belong to Moodbidri and the police have sufficient clues to nab them all at the earliest.

They were transporting nine cattle and calves, which were tied inhumanly in the pickup van. The vehicle used for the crime is also seized.

The police have registered a case under Section 379, at Hebri police station.
