The Aam Aadmi Party demanded arrest of the New Delhi Municipal Council vice chairman Karan Singh Tanwar for allegedly assaulting a woman, while claiming that no action has been taken despite the incident happening in public view.

The incident was reported at Naraina on Wednesday. After which, the victim lodged a written complaint at the local police station charging the Bharatiya Janata Party leader of allegedly assault.

The victim has named Tanwar and three other people in her complaint.
“The incident took place in full public view at Naraina on Wednesday and despite three days having passed, the police is trying to protect the BJP leader by not booking him for assault and having hurled abuses on a woman, which was witnessed by many people,” the party in a statement said.

Asking clarification from BJP for the alleged action of the leader, the AAP said, “Why was such an individual nominated to the NDMC? The AAP questions the direct interference of Union Home Ministry in the Delhi Police functioning since last six months, which is clearly reflected in this case.”

The party alleged that the Delhi Police has been hesitant to take any action against BJP leadership.
