Ban orders clamped in C’magaluru

Deputy Commissioner M K Srirangaiah, following opposition to Tipu Jayanti celebrations, has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in the district till 6 am of November 11. The orders came into effect from Friday itself.

He said that Tipu Jayanti will be observed on November 10 and to maintain law and order, the ban order had been imposed.

No one is allowed to carry out any protest and procession during the period. Distribution of pamphlets and shouting slogans is also banned, he added.

The ban is not applicable to marriages, shandy markets and government sponsored programmes, he said.
