BJP stages protest against coalition govt

Last Updated 07 January 2019, 17:31 IST

Accusing the coalition government of supporting corruptions at all levels, the BJP workers staged a protest in Madikeri on Monday.

A stenographer who was a close aide of minister Puttaranga Shetty was caught carrying 25.76 lakh in a bag at one of the exits of the Vidhana Soudha. The coalition government should be removed, said the protesters.

The protesters shouted slogans against the state government at General Thimayya Circle.

Addressing the protesters, MLC Sunil Subramani said, "The coalition government is supporting corruption. Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy is also part of it."

"KPCC President Dinesh Gundurao has supported minister Puttaranga Shetty. Instead of supporting the minister, Gundurao should seek his resignation. The coalition government is engaged in mobilising resources for the Lok Sabha elections," he added.

District BJP president B B Bharathish said, "The coalition government will not last for long. There is a lack of coordination in the coalition government. Chief Minister Kumaraswamy had promised to eradicate corruption by ensuring that there would be no middlemen in Vidhana Soudha, soon after taking charge as the chief minister. Unfortunately, money was found in the hands of a close aide of the minister in Vidhana Soudha and the chief minister is sitting silent on it."

He urged Dinesh Gundu Rao to seek an apology and tender resignation from his post for supporting the minister.

BJP Mahila Morcha district president Yamuna Changappa, Mahila Morcha town president Anitha Poovaiah and others were present.
