The health officials have started collecting the larvae and also blood samples of people in Sadarahalli in Chikkamagaluru taluk.

Following the residents complaining of vomiting, fever, headache and body pain, the officials are camping in the village.

Health worker Omkarappa, Asha worker Lakshmamma and nurses have been visiting the houses and collecting blood samples of the patients suffering from fever.

It is suspected that the people fell ill after drinking contaminated water. Water samples from a tank near Anjaneya Temple and Ayyanavara Beedi have been collected and sent to the laboratory for testing.

PDO J Latha said, “Many people in the village are engaged in open defecation in spite of having a toilet at their house. Even garbage is dumped near the house. Failing to maintain cleanliness might have resulted in fever. Measures have taken to ensure that impurities do not get mixed with the drinking water pipeline.”

A cleanliness and health camp will be organised in the village on June 30. Fogging will be taken up to check mosquitoes.
