Apollo Hospitals plans to increase its presence in the country by adding three more hospitals in the current financial year.

“Our current bed count stands at around 9,000 currently and we plan to increase that to 10,000 by the end of the current fiscal,” Apollo Hospitals Executive Vice Chairperson Preetha Reddy said.

We will be adding three new hospitals — Mumbai, Bengaluru and Visakhapatnam — as part of increasing the bed count, Reddy added.

New hospital

Meanwhile, the hospital has announced its foray into the Mumbai market by announcing the setting up of a new hospital in Navi Mumbai.

Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai will be a 500 bedded multi speciality, tertiary care hospital. Its strategic location close to the Mumbai-Pune expressway will enable it to provide emergency medical services of the highest quality in case of road accidents due to its 17 bedded emergency ward, 120 bedded ICU, and round the clock emergency physicians in the premises.

Spread over a five lakh sq ft area, Apollo Hospital in Navi Mumbai will house 57 specialities with more than 200 specialists, more than 450 operational beds and 14 operation theatres.

“Navi Mumbai is fast developing, and patients sometimes have to go to Mumbai and Pune for their healthcare needs. Looking at the need to minimise travel, as time is critical to save life, the upcoming hospital will also cater to Panvel, Taloja, Raigad and surrounding areas,” Apollo Hospitals, Navi Mumbai CEO Narendra Trivedi said.
