Business delegation seeks British investment in Gujarat

The visit by the 12-member delegation highlighted Gujarat's investment environment and world class infrastructure to invite investment in a variety of sectors.

"The state has world class infrastructure and would like to invite investments in sectors like petrochemicals, chemicals, drugs, pharmaceuticals, minerals, ceramics, gems and jewellery, textiles, auto and engineering, IT, power and ports," Guruprasad Mohapatra, IAS, Managing Director, Gujarat Alkalies and Chemical Ltd and convener of the group said at a dinner hosted for the delegation last night.

Mohapatra told PTI that the delegation received an enthusiastic response from leading investors.

The delegation also sought to attract investors to attend the two-day Global Investors meeting in the state on January 12 and 13.

The dinner was hosted by Ramniklal Solanki, CBE, Editor-in-chief, Asian Media & Marketing Group (AMG), publishers of Garavi Gujarat newsweekly and other publications and
Speaking on the Kartar Lalvani, Chairman and Chief Executive, Vitabiotics, Britain's largest vitamin table producing company, lauded the remarkable industrial growth in Gujarat.

Kalpesh Solanki, Managing Editor of Asian Media & Marketing Group pointed out that Gujarat has recorded the fastest industrial growth - 16 per cent - in the country and there was tremendous scope for expansion in the fields of pharmaceuticals, energy and IT.

The delegation held 4-hour long interaction with British industrialists and businessmen at a business meeting organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries and later gave a presentation on "The Vibrant Gujarat 2011 Summit" in Westminister, organised by Barry Gardiner MP (Labour).
