Indian markets ended a volatile trading day marginally higher after one of India’s biggest tax reforms was approved by the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday night.

After opening in the green, the Sensex slipped into the red after the initial euphoria before recovering once again and ending with a gain of 16.86 points (0.06%) at 27,714.37. The Nifty 50 also ended marginally in the green, up 6.25 points (0.07%) at 8551.10.

“There was not any major impact in the market despite Upper House of the Parliament approving GST Bill. Traders were booking profit from the day’s high as market has already seen relentless buying in the last few sessions,” Motilal Oswal Investment Services said in its MOSt Market Roundup.
