Billionaire investor and trader Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has batted for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

"There are only two Indian Prime Ministers who have experienced poverty - Lal Bahadur Shastri and Narendra Modi. I like BJP because I have pride in India & Indian-ness," Jhunjhunwala said.

The Dalal Street veteran said that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will surprise everyone with its election tally.

Jhunjhunwala was speaking at the TiECON Summit, organised by The IndUS Entrepreneurs -- a Silicon Valley non-profit that supports start-ups through networking and capital raising.

In a politically charged address, the ace investor said that growth and prosperity come only when there is chaos, like in India and America. "Democracy, entrepreneurship and natural resources are factors behind India’s growth," he said.
