'Choose clarity over knowledge'

Last Updated 18 February 2019, 18:26 IST

Clarity in life matters more than knowledge, corporate guru Swami Sukhabodhananda of Prasanna Trust, Bengaluru, has said.

Had knowledge been the solution to problems, suicide cases would not have been so many among professionals, he added, during the Founders’ Day lecture of Karnataka Bank at the head office on Monday.

"The pursuit of real happiness lies in adapting a happy outlook in dealing with problems rather than looking at problems as a pain. Problems add to our experiences and make life more meaningful," he explained.

“We land in agony while seeking solutions because we blame the situations we come across. A mature mindset should be developed by practising compassion and counting one’s blessing, so that the situations are not perceived in a negative way. One needs to add an element of devotion in all our works. We have to discover the happiness from within,” said the seer.

Mahabaleshwara M S, Karnataka Bank MD and CEO, said that the Bank had achieved a business turnover of Rs 1,17,102 crore, with deposits worth Rs 65,141 crore and advances of Rs 51,961 crore. The operating profit of the Bank is Rs 1,126 crore and net profit is Rs 416 crore as on December 2018, he added.

“The number of customers of Karnataka Bank has reached 10 million. Presently, the Bank has 835 branches, including 12 regional branches, in addition to 300-plus e-lobbies and mini e-lobbies. The cumulative CSR sanction of the Bank stood at Rs 29.84 crore in January-end 2019, towards 917 projects across India,” said Mahabaleshwara.

Commitment letters by the Bank were handed over to Mangalore University College principal Dr Uday Kumar M A; IIMPACT, Bengaluru, board member G Srinivasan and Help The Blind Foundation, Chennai, trustee, among others.

A flute-violin-mandolin recital was rendered by Shantala Subramanyam, Akkarai Sornanlatha and U Nagamani respectively for the occasion. Patri Satish Kumar accompanied on mridangam and Sukkanya Ramgopal on ghatam.
