Bulding collapse in Madikeri, 2 dead

An under construction site caved in near New Extension Road, near Raja's Seat, Madikeri. The workers were digging a ten feet deep pit when mud fell on them and covered them. Two bodies have been recovered so far.

The deceased have been identified as Gowramma and Yashoda. Another worker is shifted to the hospital. His name is Masha Bovi. Six people were working at the site in total.

Another labourer called Padma was buried neck deep in mud but her husband pulled her out.

There were no safety measures in place. The site belonged to a person called Subbaiah.

Circle inspector Anoop Madappa said, "Six people were working at the site. They were digging a ten feet deep pit for the foundation. We are yet to figure out all the details."
