Automatic ticket vending machines at railway stations soon

Soon, the railway stations under the South Western Railway (SWR), will have automatic ticket vending machines and a touch screen kiosk which issues unreserved and platform tickets to passengers with a smart card.

 SWR General Manager P K Saxena said that it would take about three to four months to instal 50 automatic ticket vending machines at all the stations. He was speaking to reporters at the City Railway Station at the valedictory of Passenger Facilitation Awareness Fortnight on Tuesday.

 He said that during the fortnight, he, along with many railway officials, spoke to 1,000 passengers about their experiences of travelling in trains, the problems they face and the improvements they would like to see in the trains. Toilets and fans were the two most common problems passengers complained of, he added.  Saxena added that 250 RPF personnel will be deployed gradually in all the trains for the security of passengers on trains.

Bicycle rally
Earlier, as part of the fortnight, the Railway Protection Force staff of Bengaluru division conducted an awareness programme by taking out a bicycle rally.

The participants conveyed message against tresspassing at railway stations, throwng stones on trains etc.

About 50 RPF officers and staff took part in the the rally which passed through Cantonment, Vasanthanagar, Guttahalli, Kumara Krupa, Seshadripuram, Sri Ramapuram, Okalipuram, Khoday’s Circle and reached the City Railway station.
