Bar owners complain about OC hassles

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara on Friday listened to the grievances of the members of bars and restaurants association at the Bangalore Metropolitan Region Development Authority office.

The members, especially the ones from those establishments that have live bands, expressed concern over the difficulties in obtaining Occupancy certificates (OC) which is making them to shut shop as a lot of procedures and rules have to be complied with to get an OC.

“The deputy chief minister has agreed to listen to their problems and has promised to arrive at a conclusion which is both in compliance with the Supreme Court orders. Those establishments complying with all the guidelines run live bands,” said T Suneel Kumar, City Police Commissioner.

"In order to get an OC, one has to comply with the building plan, fire safety norms and many other things and the BBMP will give the OC to only those establishments which have complied with everything, said BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad, also present in the meeting.
