The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will take up beautification of Bellary Road up to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) shortly.

A review meeting, held on Monday, saw Commissioner M Lakshminarayana directing BBMP officials of major road divisions to take up beautification at the earliest. As part of the beautification drive, the BBMP will plant a number of saplings of decorative trees on the stretch. A similar drive is planned on Sarjapur Road and Kanakapura Road.

“These roads may not be under our control but BBMP will develop them if they are in Palike limits,” Lakshminarayana said. A contract will be entered into with a consultant for beautification of the road to international airport. The Palike hopes to complete the project by April-end. The commissioner instructed issual of notices to owners of vacant sites to clean up their property and directed officials to collect the charges with penalty from property owners if the BBMP took up cleaning vacant sites.
