The city police have formed a special team to trace a 47-year-old builder who has been missing since Thursday.

Prasad Babu, a resident of Dwaraka Nagar in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, went to meet his business partner Tejas at his office in JP Nagar, his wife Anitha said in a complaint.

She said Babu spoke to her casually twice before he went missing. When Babu did not return even late at night, Anitha tried calling him on his mobile phone and found it was switched off. She called his partner's office and was informed that they had no idea where Babu went.

Anitha rushed to Tejas' office with her family members and found Babu's unlocked scooter abandoned neared the office.

The family lodged a complaint with the RR Nagar police, saying he could have been kidnapped for financial gains. Babu recently built a residential apartment and made profits by selling the flats. His family suspects that someone who has knowledge of his business would have kidnapped him.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Ravi D Channannavar said the special team is trying to trace Babu using his call record details and information gathered from people who last met him. Probe is still under way.
