An engineering student from Bengaluru drowned in a waterfalls near Napoklu on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Darshan (22), a resident of JP Nagar in Bengaluru.
Darshan had been to Chelavara waterfalls under Nariyandada gram panchayat with his friends. The body could not be retrieved due to a rise in the water level the police said.
Man murdered
A 26-year-old man, who was watching a procession taken out to mark Dasara, was murdered by unidentified men near Kannikaparameshwari temple in Madikeri on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Chandrashekhar, a resident of Rajeshwari layout in Madikeri.
He worked at a private hotel here. Police said that Chandrashekar sustained grievous head injuries in the attack.
