Last Updated 19 July 2018, 19:46 IST

The urban development department has regulated deputation postings for BBMP by drafting a fresh rule and ordered for direct recruitment to Group A, B and C categories through competitive exams.

This has been the long-pending demand of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike officials.

The public can file objections within 30 days.

According to the newly drafted rule, the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) or Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) will conduct competitive exams for recruitment to Group A, B and C category posts. The state government or BBMP commissioner can take a decision on recruitment as per requirements.

The BBMP commissioner or officials appointed by the commissioner are free to take decisions on recruitment of B, C and D categories.

IAS cadres will hold the chair of commissioner, special commissioner (planning), special commissioner (resource and finance) and additional commissioner (administration) in the BBMP.

11 JC positions

About 90% of joint commissioner (JC) positions will be filled by senior cadre KAS officers through deputation. The remaining positions will be filled by giving promotions to deputy commissioners (revenue).

About 50% of these positions will be filled by senior cadre KAS officers. The remaining positions will be filled by giving promotions in the revenue department, based on seniority and merit.

Cadre change

According to rule 11, a provision has been made for change of cadre. Officials have to file requests to the competent recruitment authority, which will consider them on seniority basis.
