Doc dies crashing bike into traffic police booth

A jolly ride turned tragic after a 23-year-old radiologist lost control of his bike and crashed into a traffic police booth near Windsor Manor bridge on Ballari Road.

Sharan, a native of Vellore in Tamil Nadu who lives in Hebbal, died in the incident that happened in the early hours of Sunday. His friend Livingston, who rode pillion, is receiving treatment at the hospital.

Sharan, who moved to the city just six months ago and worked with a private hospital in Marathahalli, bought a new bike and wanted to go on a ride with his friend, a senior police official said.

They reached the Windsor Manor bridge at 1.45 am on Sunday and was heading towards Ballari Road when Sharan lost control of his vehicle, rammed into a Pulsar bike near the traffic police outpost and fell on the road.

Sharan and Livingston were severely injured as they were not wearing helmets. The police in the outpost called an ambulance and shifted them to hospital. Doctors declared Sharan brought dead, while Livingston is undergoing treatment, the police said.

The bike was bought two days ago and it had a temporary registration. The police, in the meanwhile, are waiting for Livingston's recovery to confirm the bike's ownership. The police have booked a case of reckless driving.
