Sharan, who moved to the city just six months ago and worked with a private hospital in Marathahalli, bought a new bike and wanted to go on a ride with his friend, a senior police official said.

They reached the Windsor Manor bridge at 1.45 am on Sunday and was heading towards Ballari Road when Sharan lost control of his vehicle, rammed into a Pulsar bike near the traffic police outpost and fell on the road.

Sharan and Livingston were severely injured as they were not wearing helmets. The police in the outpost called an ambulance and shifted them to hospital. Doctors declared Sharan brought dead, while Livingston is undergoing treatment, the police said.

The bike was bought two days ago and it had a temporary registration. The police, in the meanwhile, are waiting for Livingston's recovery to confirm the bike's ownership. The police have booked a case of reckless driving.
