The Karnataka Government has increased the expenditure limits of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials. By amending the Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1977, the government has increased the budgetary expenditure for all Municipal authorities in the State.
It has also stated that other Municipal bodies in the State have received an increment in its expenditure budget.
The hike in expenditure limits will now authorise municipal bodies to sanction works for the cities for a maximum of Rs 2 crore. In the case of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike it is Rs 5 crore.
The other Municipal authorities in the State have been authorised to spend upto Rs 2 crore after which they will have to be referred to the Standing Committee and above whose expenditure limits remain the same.
