‘Harassed at work’, techie jumps into Madiwala lake

A 27-year-old techie, who was suffering from depression, allegedly jumped into the Madiwala lake and committed suicide.

The deceased, Vishwas, a native of Davanagere, was living with his parents and was recently sacked. He went into a depression after failing to land another job.

During the investigation, the police opened the techie’s email ID and found a death note which states that Vishwas was “harassed” by the company for no fault of his and was later sacked. Based on the death note, the police issued a notice to the company and are awaiting a response.

The Mico Layout police said that Vishwas went missing on December 13 and after searching for him everywhere, his parents filed a missing complaint in the Madiwala police station.

On December 20, his body was found floating in the Madiwala lake and a passerby alerted the police. After verification, the police realised that it was Vishwas and the body was handed over to his parents.
