India’s second largest IT services provider Infosys on Monday said it will recruit more fresh talent from IITs, foreign universities and colleges as part of its digital transformation strategy.

“We are diversifying our talent mix by hiring graduates from design school, liberal arts and humanities in India as well as in the US,” U B Pravin Rao, chief operating officer, Infosys said.

Addressing analysts in Mumbai, Rao said the company has been revamping its hiring process to cope up with talent gap arising out of a changing technology scenario.

“As you have seen, we have had an exponential increase in our new services in the past four years. There is a wide skill gap and focusing on the entire people supply chain like hiring, training and deploying,” he said.

The digital space contributed over Rs 18,000 crore ($2.79 billion) to the company’s topline in 2017-18, which is 25.5% of its total revenues.

As part of hiring strategy, he said Infosys has started recruiting talent depending on the customers’ requirements with relevant skill sets.

Rao said the company is entering into a strategic partnership with third parties including universities to enhance its talent pool.

He said reskilling is important as the company is embracing new technology in a digital environment.

The company has also carved a learning map. “We have made our own learning platform and learning app. We profile our employees in adjacent areas and can upskill on digital, cloud and Dev-ops technologies as per the client’s needs,” he said.

Infosys had a total headcount of 2,04,107 at the end of March 31, 2018.
