Dy CM responds to Twitter post about traffic light

Last Updated 19 June 2018, 17:24 IST

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara was quick to respond to a motorist's Twitter post about traffic signals that had become defunct at Dairy Circle over two months ago. The motorist had met with an accident because of chaotic traffic at the busy intersection in southern Bengaluru.

Parameshwara, also the home minister, tagged Bengaluru's traffic police chief, R Hithendra, directing him to look into the matter forthwith. He also responded to the motorist, saying he was sorry to hear about the issue and that @addlcptraffic (Hithendra) would look into the issue.

The motorist, identified as Raja, replied on Twitter: "I am tagging them here for the last 25 days and Bengaluru Traffic Police did not even acknowledge so far, only after your response came in, they are acknowledging."

Hithendra, additional commissioner of police (traffic), replied to Parameshwara's tweet: "Our nodal officer for signals will look into this issue immediately and give a feedback to Raja."

Raja expressed his gratitude for the prompt response and said he looked forward to seeing the signal restored. Later, Parameshwara tweeted: "I would like to thank all of you for notifying me on issues related to the city. Be assured that your concerns are being looked into by relevant officials. Public participation is crucial. Please keep sharing your ideas and suggestions."

Parameshwara's quick response prompted many Bengalureans to make complaints about traffic jams, poor underpasses, power cuts and garbage menace, among others, but the home minister could not respond to all the posts.
