The Palike Commissioner Shankarlingegowda has directed the Revenue and Town Planning officers to rope in prominent agencies to survey the properties that are under-assessed for property tax.

At a meeting convened here on Saturday, Gowda directed the officers to initiate action against the tax defaulters under the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act, if the survey reveals tax evasion by business parks and tech-parks in the City. Yediyur Ward Corporator N R Ramesh had made this suggestion to overcome the financial crisis that the Palike is facing.

During the meeting, Gowda also reviewed the status of identification of properties based on the geographical information system.

He set January 15 as the deadline for engineers to complete the identification of the properties.

Once the survey is completed, the Revenue officers have been asked to provide property identification number to the property owners before January 31.

The Commissioner was reportedly unhappy with the delayed validation of properties and directed the authorities concerned to intensify the drive.

Once the validation is completed, the details of the properties will be made available on the Palike’s web-portal www.asbpa.bbmp.gov.in/dcbreports.
