
Sandalwood actor C H Loknath passed away in Bengaluru after suffering from a heart attack in the early hours of Monday. He was 91.
Loknath is survived by a son and four daughters. In Sandalwood, he was well known as 'Uncle Loknath' as he mainly played supporting roles in more than 600 films in Kannada.
The mortal remains of Loknath will be kept for public viewing in Ravindra Kalakshetra from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Monday.
Loknath was a theatre personality and also acted in more than 1000 dramas till date. He made his on-screen debut with Samskara which was directed by Girish Karnad.
Later he became famous for his significant roles in Bhootayana Maga Ayyu, Naagarahaavu, Minchina Ota, Gejje Pooje, Bangarada Manushya, Nodi Swamy Naavirode Hege, Kakana Kote and others.
He was also the most sought after actor of late maverick filmmaker Shankar Nag, where he used to ensure a significant role for Uncle Loknath. He also played a key role in Malgudi Days.
