The railway police have identified the bodies as Mumtaz Begum (45), a resident of Amco Layout, Kodigenahalli near Sahakar Nagar and Sachin (25), an employee of Karthik Enterprises in Rajajinagar.

Sources said, Mumtaz was suffering from knee joint pain and was on her way for physiotherapy in Subramanyanagar. For the last few weeks, she was travelling in the train. On the ill-fated day, she got down from the train at Malleswaram station and instead of taking the pedestrian overbridge, she decided to cross the track and came under the wheels of another moving train on the next track and died.

A few meters away from the spot where Mumtaz was run over, Suraj’s body was found. He hailed from Kerala and an ID card lying next to him helped the cops.
Another male body which was found near the track is yet to be identified. The age of the victim is put to be around 55 years.

Auto driver killed

An autorickshaw driver was killed on the spot and his friend was seriously injured when their auto and a van were involved in a collision on NH4 in Nelamangala on Wednesday.
Ahmad Pasha (23) of Anand Nagar, Nelamangala taluk and his friend Rafiq (22) were in the auto when the incident occurred at T Begur near Anand Nagar Cross around 3:45 pm, police said.

Driver of the tempo traveller abandoned the vehicle and fled after the mishap. Nelamangala police, who seized the vehicle, said Rafiq’s condition was critical and he had been put under observation for the next 48 hours.

A case under Sections 337 (causing hurt by endangering life or safety of others), 279 (rash driving) and 304 (A) (causing death due to negligence) of the IPC has been registered.
