2 arrested for murder

The police arrested two people for murdering a man in Kodigehalli and recovered the weapon used for the murder, two mobile phones and a bike.

The suspects Chetan and Mohammed Mansoor Sherif, both aged 22 years, are Yeshwanthpur residents. Chetan was involved in an attempt to murder case in Yeshwantpur

The murder took place on August 19 around 10 pm. Chandrashekar, the victim, and friend Narayanaswamy were returning home on a bike when the suspects accosted them near the Ring Road and directed them to hand over valuables.

Narayanaswamy handed over his mobile phone and Rs 3,000 cash. However, Chandrashekar resisted and one the suspects stabbed him on his thigh and robbed his valuables. He was shifted to the nearby hospital where later succumbed to his injuries.

Though the hospital had lodged a Medico-Legal Complaint (MLC), the police did not register the case till the next morning. The case was registered only after Chandrashekar’s death around 3 pm. Police inspector Rajanna, assistant sub-inspector Rajanna and constable Jairam were suspended on the charge of dereliction of duty.
