Five people, including a minor, were killed and three were injured in three separate accidents on Thursday.
In a hit-and-run, Surekha, 30, and her three-year-old daughter Aaradhya were killed on the spot and her husband Raghu was injured after an unknown vehicle hit their scooter near Lumbini Garden at 11 pm on Thursday.
Police said Raghu, who runs a bakery near the CBI office at Ganganagar, was returning home with his wife and daughter from their relative’s house in Byatarayanapura on Thursday. Around 11 pm, he was crossing Lumbini Garden when an unknown vehicle rear-ended their scooter. Raghu fell on the footpath but his wife and daughter fell on the road and were run over by a vehicle.
The Hebbal traffic police said they were reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle.
Meanwhile, three people were killed in two separate accidents on National Highway 75 on Thursday night.
2 killed in Audi crash
An Audi car rammed two-wheeler and later a parked truck on the roadside near the commercial taxes office near Avalahalli. Amarnath Singh (26), son of Bhavani Singh, the SPP in a disproportionate assets case involving former Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa, and his friend Subend Bej (29), who were inside the car, died on the spot.
Two of their friends, Jaswanth (25), of M Narayanapura, and Sandeep (27), a medical representative, were severely injured. Bike rider Manjunath, of Hoskote, was also injured.
All the four were going towards Kolar. Police are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the accident but suspect speeding as the driver lost control as he tried to avoid the biker and crashed into the parked truck.
In another incident, Syed Arbaz (18) was killed on the spot after his bike hit a parked truck near Medreich factory on Kolar Road. A resident of Baila Narasapura, Arbaz was returning to his town after visiting the city.
