Security stepped up in City

Soon after the Supreme Court declined to stay the day to pronounce judgment, City Commissioner of Police Shankar Bidari issued prohibitory orders under section 144 of the CrPC from September 30 from 6 am to October 2 midnight. The order inter alia prohibits assembly of five or more people and processions.

More than 18,000 constables, 1,500 homeguards, 30 platoons of Karnataka State Reserved Police, personnel of Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Special Striking Force (SSF) have been deployed to maintain law and order in the City.

Bidari has appealed to the people to follow the orders and never get provoked by any instigation. He said people violating these orders would have to face stern action.
