Additional judge for HC appointed

 Kumar, who enrolled in the Bar in 1987 has been practising since past 20 years in the High Court as well as the lower courts.

He was appointed Additional Central Government Standing Counsel in 1999 by the Government of India and he continued in the position until 2005, when he was appointed as assistant solicitor general of India, High Court of Karnataka.

An expert in constitutional matters, Central Excise Act, Custom’s Act and other subjects, he was appointed as Standing Counsel for Indian Railways in 2002, and for Income Tax department in 2003. He was also appearing as public prosecutor for the Central Bureau of Investigation.

He was also a legal advisor to several public utilities including Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) and Nuclear Power Corporation, Kaiga. With his appointment, the strength of judges in the High Court will go up to 38.
