The students of Sambhram Institute of Technology recently got together to organise ‘Vibez 13’, a techno-cultural extravaganza which was attended by students from engineering and management colleges across the City.

A lot of effort went into pulling off the three-day fest but the organising committee was more than proud of the result — participants from around 26 colleges attended the affair, keen to showcase their talents in an array of fields.

As part of the fest, the students made arrangements for 20 cultural events, ten technical ones and three sports competitions.

It was inaugurated by a few well-known faces: action star Raaj, film-maker Machandru and music director Vinay Chandra.

More glamour was added to the fest by the presence of ‘Golden Star’ Ganesh, who turned up with a few members of his film ‘Auto Raja’ — such as director Uday Prakash and music director Arjun Janya — to put up a show for the kids. Arjun Janya did his bit as well,
entertaining the crowd by singing Rabba Ho Rabba.

One of the most anticipated events of the fest was ‘Mr and Ms Vibez’ — 30 students were selected to participate in it and were given a week of training by a fashion choreographer, before the finalists were shortlisted.

There was also a valedictory function, attended by Sandalwood actors Surya and Prithvi, producer Narendra Sreeram, music director Narendra Kumar and film-maker Anand V.
The fashion show, which was held on the second day, was also one of the highlights of the fest — it showcased the students at their vibrant best. Students from colleges such as MSR Institute of Technology, CMR Institute of Technology, BMS College of Engineering, Acharya Institute of Technology, NMIT and Reva Institute of Technology and Management attended the fest.

While the students of Acharya Institute of Technology came first in the fashion show, the team from MSRIT stole the show in the group dance event.

Sapthagiri College of Engineering emerged first in ‘mad ads’ and ‘short cricket’, and the home team were named the winners of a large number of events, including solo dance, mehendi and rangoli making, beat-boxing, photography, pencil sketching and Kannada antakshari.
