The police have made elaborate security arrangements all over the city as a precautionary measure.

Every year, the members of Sri Vidya Ganpathi Seval Mandali consecrate the Ganesha idol in city on various themes. This year, the theme has been ‘Gowraksha Ganesha’ following the State Government’s move to ban slautering of cattle.

The procession that began from Rathada Beedhi is passing through Gundlupet circle,  Doddangadi and Chikkangadi street, Santhemarahalli circle and other important roads.  When the procession entered the Muslim locality, several muslim leaders distributed sweets and participated in the procession. MLC Prof Mallikarjunappa offered sweets to the Muslims.

The participation of various folklore troupes such as veeraghase kunitha, dollukunitha, goravara kunitha, nandi dwaja kunitha, fancy dress, beesu kamsale added colour to the procession.

The members of Vidya Ganapathi Seva Mandali have been organising this procession and installing the idol for the last 45 years.
